Middleborough Conservation Commission approves Nemasket River restoration expansion. The commission unanimously approved an amended Order of Conditions for invasive weed removal work on the Nemasket River, the third phase of an ongoing ecological restoration project funded by a $35,000 grant from the Nature Conservancy. Tom Barron of the Middleborough Lakeville Herring Fishery Commission told the commission that previous removal efforts have successfully opened the river's main channel, allowing recreational paddling and improving fish passage.
The commission also unanimously approved three group use permits for nature walks at conservation lands and continued a hearing for a proposed athletic field at Camp Avoda following neighbor objections about impacts to wetland habitat.
