Finance Committee approves prior minutes, discusses departmental budgets

MIDDLEBOROUGH — The Middleborough Finance Committee voted to approve prior meeting minutes and discussed FY27 departmental budgets. The Committee voted 3-2 with one abstention on the February minutes, then heard joint Select Board presentations on Information Technology, Elections, and Media budgets. Members questioned IT capital requests, the Elections Coordinator's workload, and potential savings from changing election dates.
Liaison updates showed Animal Control's budget increased for assistant officer compensation and overtime; Public Works up 3.3 percent overall with 4.8 percent salary increases and the town engineer moved in-house; Water up 6.2 percent for new treatment plant staffing and equipment; Wastewater up 0.9 percent. Members expressed concerns about the printed budget book's accuracy and timing, requesting a live Excel working copy.
