Finance Committee reorganizes amid FY27 budget crisis

Middleborough Finance Committee confronts FY27 budget gap threatening up to 30 town positions. Robert Sullivan was elected Finance Committee chair and Nathan Demers vice chair; Demers prevailed 4-2 over Matthew Phillips for the vice seat. Interim Town Manager Joe Perkins informed the committee that impact bargaining has begun with unions representing police supervisors, patrol officers, firefighters, and clerical staff.

The committee will conduct line-by-line budget review through April 23 at four additional meetings, ahead of an April 27 presentation to the Select Board.
