Gas and Electric Commission approves $271K in equipment bids

Middleborough Gas and Electric Commission unanimously approves $271,593 in major equipment purchases. The commission backed a $105,000 bid from Tilton Electric for a standby generator for the liquefied natural gas facility and a $166,593 bid from Irby Utility with ERMCO transformers, with delivery expected in 24 to 32 weeks. General Manager Ken Stone announced an 8 percent increase to the Purchase Gas Adjustment effective February 1, from $1.1969 to $1.2927 per cubic foot, citing extreme winter weather and pipeline constraints driving natural gas costs.
