Herring commission adds 973 followers to town website
Herring Fishery Commission · Meeting of January 14, 2026
MIDDLEBOROUGH — The Middleborough-Lakeville Herring Fishery Commission's addition to the town website has generated 973 new followers in recent weeks. The commission is pursuing expanded web presence on the Town of Lakeville website and planning a January 16 partnership meeting with Mike Pasalacqua of Harper Lane Brewery to promote awareness of the Nemasket River herring migration. Wardens reported that Assawompsett Pond is largely ice-covered with water levels at traditionally low winter levels, while the Wareham Street fish ladder maintains good water flow.
The commission is advancing its Eco-Harvester weed removal project on the Nemasket River, with support from the Middleborough Department of Public Works for access at the East Grove Street pumping station site.
