Select Board approves Dana Fontaine as interim fire chief, extends Bridgewater water agreement
Select Board · Meeting of March 30, 2026
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Select Board hires interim fire chief, extends water supply agreement with limits. The board unanimously approved Dana Fontaine for the interim fire chief role and authorized Interim Town Manager Joe Perkins to negotiate her contract. In a 4-1 vote, with Teresa Kelly Farley opposing, the board extended Middleborough's water agreement with Bridgewater through July 12, 2026, subject to a complete moratorium on new service connections and full discretion of Water Superintendent Mike Bumpus to protect Middleborough residents' supply.
The extension came amid concerns over water consumption (23.2 million gallons as of March 30) and potential Miller Well shutoff around April 15. The board also unanimously approved an RFP for a forensic audit of FY2025, addressing questions about the town's budget position.
