Select Board approves interim town manager, police and fire budgets

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Select Board appoints interim town manager, receives police and fire budget presentations. The board unanimously approved Joe Perkins as Interim Town Manager, with Chair Mark Germain authorized to negotiate his employment contract after two candidates applied for the position. Police Chief Ferreira and Fire Chief Owen Thompsen presented FY27 budget proposals highlighting staffing, accreditation compliance, and overtime management across both departments.

Town Manager Jay McGrail reported identifying $200,000 in the school budget from the transportation department and noted advocacy for increased Chapter 70 state education funding. The board also unanimously approved the 27th Annual Best Buddies Challenge event, a $27,635.32 Notice of Betterment for 68 Plain Street, and a Class II Internet-Only Automobile Dealer's License for Road Star Motors LLC at 228 Bedford Street.
