MIDDLEBOROUGH — Select Board expands town manager search committee from seven to eight voting members and approves three candidates. The board unanimously selected Nancy Kefalis, MacDonald Sprague III, and Ed Medeiros after a three-way tie in voting. The board also approved a Police Union memorandum regarding the July 1, 2026 layoff of four officers and designated Interim Town Manager Joe Perkins as the Civil Service Hearing Officer.

The board voted unanimously to recommend favorable action on 27 warrant articles for both town meetings, including $6 million for North Street Water Main replacement, $610,000 for a Water Department Vacuum Truck, and $518,000 as the town's match for a $1 million grant to replace the Pratt Farm Large Dam. The board also updated the budget to reflect receipt of $272,000 in updated Cherry Sheets aid, restoring the Select Board Administrative Assistant to full-time status, $45,000 to snow and ice, $42,000 to unemployment, $100,000 to schools, and the Conservation Commission Land Manager position.
