Select Board, Finance and School Committees convene on FY27 school budget crisis

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Select Board and Finance Committee hold joint budget meeting on school shortfall. Acting Superintendent Mike Perrone outlined possible solutions including class size increases, program cuts, and elementary school reconfiguration, with estimated staff reduction expenses of $8,000 to $15,000. Chair Mark Germain directed Interim Town Manager Joe Perkins to review the budget for recoverable funds and expressed concern about one-time funding and late communications regarding the former Superintendent's resignation costs.

The group agreed to reconvene within weeks to address public questions and suggestions raised.
