Tourism Committee accepts $1,000 grant for Herring Run Festival

Tourism Committee · Meeting of March 2, 2026

MIDDLEBOROUGH — The Tourism Committee unanimously accepted a $1,000 grant from the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe Cultural Council for the Herring Run Festival. Chairperson Leilani Dalpe had sought the full $2,500 participation cost, but the Cultural Council proportionally distributed funds among 17 applicants. The Committee committed to cover the remaining $1,500.

In related action, the Committee authorized Treasurer Ann Cavanaugh to book the Tribe's performance and explore rain date options. The Committee also approved $1,644.64 in reimbursements to Dalpe for event supplies and shirts, with Dalpe abstaining from that vote.
