Middleborough School Committee revoted to approve a $427,500 roof contract and confirmed a new special-services director. The board unanimously reapproved WPI Construction of Worcester's original bid for the Lincoln D. Lynch School roof after a yearlong dispute in which the state attorney general's office upheld WPI's protest of an earlier non-responsive finding; officials said the next bidder would have cost nearly $100,000 more.

"Just for anybody watching, really our option is either to vote yay or not repair the roof," one committee member said. The roof work is expected to run two to three weeks starting August 10. The committee also unanimously confirmed Heather Geary, currently of Codman Academy, as Pupil Personnel Services Director effective August 17, after a search led by Melissa Deutschman that screened 14 applicants down to two finalists.
