Middleborough School Committee approves two student council trips, advances a dozen policy updates. The committee unanimously backed a March trip to the Massachusetts Association of Student Council's state conference in Hyannis, where student Lexi Boyd is running for state vice president, plus a June national conference trip in New Hampshire estimated at "$800 a student," all-inclusive. Resident Sarah Zagoras asked during discussion, "Does this also apply to vapes?" prompting the subcommittee to add "vaping" in quotes to its tobacco policy.
The committee also responded publicly to an open meeting law complaint filed by Bridget Kearns, saying the clerk will now list supporting documents separately at the end of meeting minutes. Policy JIB, recognizing two student representatives on the advisory committee, passed unanimously on third read.
